TENTATIVELY YES
A major hurdle has been cleared by Laurier University and the "Y" in developing an almost 60-million dollar athletic complex on the south side of Colborne Street in downtown Brantford as city councillors have approved the plan in principle, along with a 5.8-million dollar contribution.
Laurier president, Max Blouw, says people won't have to worry about the loss of view from Colborne because architects have cleverly lifted the street level portion of the complex above ground.
Blouw hopes to have confirmation on federal funding, and an agreed to price on the needed city land by early summer, and expects construction to begin next year.
